Creative Writing, Journaling, and Poetry

The Queen Shirley Foundation (QSF) offers virtual therapeutic workshops for teens and adults that are led by trained creatives and mental health clinicians. These medically directed workshops are covered by insurance in the US. Most workshops meet online twice per week for two hours for six weeks. You will enjoy working on your mental health online in a QSF therapeutic writing workshop in creative writing, poetry, or journaling.

Creative Writing

You will unleash your creativity, engage in self-expression, and enjoy trying different creative writing techniques

Journaling

You will learn how to use written expression to manage your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in a safe space.

Poetry

You will learn how to write poems to help process your experiences and gain new insights

Creative Writing

In this therapeutic creative writing workshop, you will unleash your creativity, engage in self-expression, and enjoy trying different creative writing techniques. Creative writing activities may include short stories, letters, autobiographies, or scripts. As you learn to improve written communication skills with more clarity and focus, it may also benefit your verbal communication skills.

Journaling

A helpful tool for managing your mental health is journaling. With guidance and journal prompts, you can learn how to use therapeutic journaling to identify stressors, track symptoms, and gain new perspectives. You will learn how to use written expression to manage your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors in a safe space

Poetry

In this therapeutic poetry writing workshop, you will learn how to write poems to help process your experiences and gain new insights. Poetry allows you to gain self-awareness, understand feelings, and exchange ideas with others. QSF instructors will guide you in how to start writing poetry and how to use it to release built up emotions. You may even find humor in your poems.
